Grantor Retained Unitrust (GRUT)

A trust in which the grantor retains the right to receive amounts that are payable not less frequently than annually and are a fixed percentage of the fair market value of the property in the trust (determined annually). § 2702(b)(2). The value of grantor’s retained interest in a GRUT is taken into account for gift tax purposes.
