Living Will

A document in which an individual expresses his or her wishes regarding the use or nonuse of medical treatments that prolongs vital bodily functions if he or she is terminally ill and incompetent. Living wills are statutorily authorized by most states; in some of which are called “directives to physicians” or “health care directives.” See Durable power of attorney for health care.
